How buying a gun in Phoenix works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Arizona law allows.
Arizona has no permit to purchase, no gun registration and no state waiting period. At pickup from a licensed dealer you show a valid photo ID, complete ATF Form 4473 and pass the federal NICS background check. Federal law sets the dealer minimum age at 18 for rifles and shotguns and 21 for handguns. Frames and receivers are firearms under federal law and go through a dealer too; slides, barrels, triggers and most other parts ship to your door.
Dealers in these communities all work for Phoenix-area buyers:

Carrying a gun in Maricopa County
Arizona has allowed permitless concealed carry since 2010 for anyone 21 or older who can legally possess a firearm, and open carry is legal for adults. The Arizona concealed weapons permit, issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, is still useful: more states honor it, it can replace the NICS check at a dealer, and it allows carry in some places that are off limits without it. Check with DPS or the Maricopa County Sheriff if you are unsure.
Hunting near Phoenix
Most Arizona deer, elk and javelina hunts are by draw through the Arizona Game and Fish Department, with season dates set by game management unit; over-the-counter archery deer permits are also available. Centerfire rifles, handguns, shotguns and muzzleloaders are legal for deer during general hunts. Check the 2026-27 Arizona Hunting Regulations for the units near Maricopa County.
Phoenix hunters head north to the Mogollon Rim and Tonto National Forest for deer and elk, or to the desert units around the valley for javelina and quail.
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility off Carefree Highway in north Phoenix is one of the largest public shooting ranges in the country.
